A new robot vacuum cleaner is a big investment, and you can easily get confused trying to find the best model.
In 2025, there is a sea of different robot vacuum cleaners, so it is not surprising that you do not know which one to choose…
Do you need an app? Can the robot vacuum figure out how to clean itself? Will it run over stairs and curbs? Is it a good idea to have a built-in mop function? And how much do you really have to pay for a good robot vacuum cleaner?
There are many things you need to know if you want to make the best decision.
Perhaps you are also in doubt as to whether a robot vacuum cleaner is right for you ?
In our survey, 97% of consumers said that they are very satisfied to replace their old vacuum cleaner with a robotic vacuum cleaner.
You Should Look For Robot Vaccum Cleaners with :
Optimized suction: Better for hygiene
All robot vacuum cleaners are not created equal, and one of the big differences is how the suction inlet is designed.
If the suction inlet isn’t made for all kinds of dirt, from grit to dog hair, the robot probably can’t clean well.
Gyroscopic sensors: Guarantee of 100% effective cleaning
With gyroscopic sensors, the robot vacuum cleaner can itself find out which areas of your house are dirtiest and thus clean more efficiently and quickly.
Without gyroscopic sensors, there’s a chance you’ll be left with patches of dirt and grime around your house.
Fight allergies in the family with a efficient HEPA filter
Regardless of whether you have a robot or a regular vacuum cleaner, it is important to choose the right filter.
One of the most common reasons why children and adults develop asthma and dust allergies is that vacuum cleaners that cannot filter dust and small particles. As a result, dust and particles are left at home.
Automatic loading: Unsupervised cleaning
Nobody wants to come home to a half-cleaned house.
If the robot vacuum can’t charge itself when it’s on low power, you can’t leave it unattended. Then you also need to be aware of when it stops so you can put it back to charge.
You Should Avoid Robot Vaccum Cleaners with :
Lack of app control
Robot vacuums without an app usually have a single function and can only complete basic sweeping tasks, but cannot perform more complex cleaning operations.
It doesn’t cost much for businesses to equip their robot vacuum cleaner with an app, and it makes one’s life much more convenient when you can control your robot vacuum cleaner and get it cleaned even when you’re not at home.
No anti-collision function (avoid damage to furniture)
We also found out some robot vacuums drive very hard into walls and furniture, resulting in bumps and damage.
We even saw a simple vacuum run across our stairs and almost break!
With the anti-collision function that is so important, it ensures that the robot vacuum does not run over stairs or edges or drive hard into your furniture.
Suction power below 1800Pa
If your robot vacuum cleaner has a suction power of less than 1800Pa, chances is it won’t pick up all the dirt and grime when cleaning.
Therefore, look for a robot vacuum cleaner with at least 1800Pa in suction power, and avoid buying one that is too weak to take in everything.
Noisy models (noise level above 60dB)
Imagine having a handyman alarm several hours a day, a few times a week.
This can quickly become a reality if you choose a robot vacuum cleaner with a sound level of over 60dB.
However, if you choose one that is quiet and doesn’t make noise, it can even vacuum at night without waking you up.
We evaluated Robot Vaccum Cleaners based on these 7 criteria
- Suction power & Suction intake
- Cleaning program
- Container capacity
- Virtual walls
- Type of sensors

2.iRobot I7
Our Rating
A+
Price
£ 629
Pros
- Good suction
- Virtual walls
- Automatic loading
Cons
- Relatively high price
- Large size
- Work area 90m²
- Complicated setup; not ideal for beginners
- Occasional mechanical issues
Review
In second place, we have a robot vacuum cleaner from a brand most people are probably familiar with, the Roomba i7. They are known for making good quality robotic vacuum cleaners and the Roomba i7 is absolutely no exception.
It is a good robot vacuum cleaner that handles most tasks without problems. Due to the design of the brushes and the opposite rotation, very little dirt gets caught in the brushes. This makes the maintenance effort reduced enormously.
However, we thought it had too many flaws in relation to the price (which is relatively high).
Although the Roomba i7 performed well in terms of efficiency, it took a long time to get through a full clean. This is due to a low working area of 90m². It is that it takes approx. 2 charges, and that the container must be emptied to get through a complete cleaning.
The Roomba i7 is still a really good robot vacuum, but it was clear to us that it had to come in second place this time.
3. EcoVacs OZMO T8
Our Rating
B+
Price
£639
Pros
- Smart Navigation - Triple Scan SLAM Technology
- Strong suction power and suction intake
- Low sound level of 60db
Cons
- T8 may not be able to handle large garbage
- Work area 80m²
- Low cost-performance
- Long-term reliability concerns
Review
In third place we have Ozmo T8. We were impressed by the strong suction power combined with the good suction intake and there is no doubt that this is also a robot vacuum cleaner of the highest quality.
Something we found problematic with Ozmo T8 was that it has a small workspace and long charging time. Although it is quite a powerful robot vacuum, it is very inconvenient that it cannot vacuum for very long before it needs to be charged for 5-6 hours.
For wet cleaning, after cleaning an area of 16 square meters, the robot must return to the charging station to clean the mop and refill with water. In our test area with a cleaning area of 70 square meters, this means it has to come and go four times. In our opinion, this extended the wet cleaning time considerably.
Overall, the Ozmo T8 is a full-featured smart robot vacuum with excellent smart navigation, but it is expensive. Also, don’t expect a quick cleanup.
4. Electrolux
Our Rating
B-
Price
£ 459
Pros
- 3D camera navigation
- The suction automatically adapts to different floor types
- Intelligente Funktionen
Cons
- Android app prone to crash during installation
- Doesn't have the extra features of robotic vacuum cleaners at comparable prices
- Does not always accurately report problems it encounters during operation
Review
We’ve seen circular robot vacuums and D-shaped robot vacuums, but the Pure i9 is the first triangular one we’ve seen. It facilitates better cleaning of corners, skirting boards and other edges in your home.
It also reduces the vacuum’s footprint: The Pure i9 measures just a hair over 12.5 inches in diameter, making it significantly narrower than other models we’ve reviewed.
What we should emphasize: I encountered the same problem that many other users have complained about in the Google Play Store: the Android app crashes. Very. In more than a dozen attempts, it repeatedly aborted at various points in the installation process, yielding only an “unknown error” message and an offer to “try again.”
Although Electrolux uses an intelligent control system, it may still not be able to work normally in a complex environment.
The Pure i9 is a lively and hard-working robot vacuum, but lacks the extra features of comparably priced robot vacuums.
